Q&A With Your Queue: Anne Baird
Mondays are hard, but podcasts are easier. Right?
Maybe, maybe not. In a world where there are so many options for podcasts, do you ever feel dissatisfied with them? Almost like the true crime, chat casts that never seem to fade just can't keep you coming back? Did that TIME article of "100 Best Podcasts of All Time" leave you a little underwhelmed?
I get it. It's one of the reasons why I do what I do. Part of it is making sure that I don't get sucked into one type of listening rut. When I feel myself getting stuck, I know the people I can go to. One of them is my friend, Anne.
Anne and I align in a sense of "good podcasts are good podcasts". If I'm being honest, a chunk of my (secret) list for Audio Drama Autumn can be traced back to them, whether via direct suggestion or some type of networking. Anne's podcast corner is different than mine - and I adore it. I know even if I don't vibe with a podcast Anne recommends, it's still going to be a good podcast. Which is why today's Q&A is with them.
Q) Who Are You?
A) Anne!
Note from Keelin: Anne is being humble by simply stating Anne. Anne is the COO of Tink Media, Co-Founder of Hug House Productions, and Editor of the Audio Drama Gazette. That's just what Anne does in podcasting, too!
Q) What podcasts are you working on?
A) Currently working on TOO MANY—but the main ones are Levian, How to Act Fereldan, and HUBRIS.
Note from Keelin: I've been meaning to listen to Levian so that one gets the feature! Be sure to check out all of them!
Q) What was the first podcast you listened to?
A) Welcome to Night Vale, closely followed by the Bright Sessions. There were also some actual play podcasts sprinkled in with a dash of Lore and Stuff You Missed in History Class.
Q) What is the most important podcast you've listened to?
A) 5-4 is probably one of the most important podcasts I've listened to. The hosts dissect Supreme Court cases each episode in a way that makes them palatable to their audience (and they have a fun time doing it).
Q) What is your favorite escape-pod?
A) Gotta be a tie between Beach Too Sandy Water Too Wet and The Newest Olympian. If I need to just shut my brain down, these two got my back.
Thanks, Anne, for being an incredible podcast friend, and great foil to my listening habits. Shout out to Normal Curves because it's one of my new favorite podcasts that came from one of Anne's Queuesday posts.
