Q&A With Your Queue: Tal Minear
Hello everyone!
As usual, Audio Drama Autumn leaves me in a state of frenzy, overwhelm, and overall joy. I forget it takes me so much time to listen and review audio dramas closely. So as we wait for those to percolate, I’m really excited to share the Q&A with Tal.
Tal is a great podcast friend of mine, and I’m really grateful to have them in my corner when I say “I need something different”. They sit in the audio drama space, and do a lot. They created Re: Dracula, are working on TAFCON, and have a thing coming up where they’re going to tell people all about crowdfunding a podcast for a small fee. There’s probably more things that I‘m not even remembering right now.
In short, Tal is cool. So let’s listen to Tal.
Q: What Podcasts do you work on?
A: Re: Dracula
From Keelin: You can find my review of Re: Dracula below, but did you know there’s an IndieGoGo campaign happening for Re: Frankenstein?
Q: What is the first podcast you listened to?
A: I genuinely can't remember what the first podcast in general I listened to was (that was so long ago!) but the first two fiction podcasts I listened to were Welcome to Night Vale and The Bright Sessions. I am still very fond of both of these.
From Keelin: We’re going to focus on The Bright Sessions for this one because so many people count WTNV as their first podcast and we want to spread the love here. I’m also being lovingly bullied by my audio drama friends that I haven’t listened to this one yet…
Q: What is the most interesting podcast you’ve listened to?
A: 99 Percent Invisible is the most interest podcast to me. I'm constantly sharing fun facts I learned from listening. Did you know there's a company that makes fish cannons to get salmon across dams? Did you know palm trees are among the easiest of trees to steal? Did you know a guy added a sign to the 110 freeway? 99PI is fascinating.
From Keelin: 99PI is one of the best podcasts to just scroll through. There’s rarely a time sensitive episode. I love a good podcast where you can pick and choose what you want to interact with.
Q: What is your favorite escape-pod?
A: Right now it's Absolutely No Adventures. Give me a fantasy bakery and lots of silly shenanigans, I can live there forever!
From Keelin: Adding this to my queue immediately. If you like this, I have a sneaking suspicion you’d also like the books by Travis Baldree.
